I stepped in cat poop this morning. In my bare feet. After stepping in cat poop, two things can happen. Everything is going to go down hill from there and it is going to be a really crappy day (pun totally intended) or that will be the low point of the day and things will start to go better.
Now normally I’m a pessismistic type of person. I would have let that shitty start be the downfall for the rest of my week. But not today. Today I was thankful that I only found one little spot of poop and that my toes picked it up perfectly from my new rug instead of mashing it in and making the situation worse.
I’m thankful that I was able to go to the school to see James perform in his Veterans Day program. Little kids singing is enough to turn anyone’s day around. Here, watch this if you need to be cheered up as well:
I’m thankful that I had a good job to go to this morning.
I’m thankful I have a loving family to go home to this evening. Even if they do eat all the cereal and the fruit snacks.
I’m thankful that I have a mom that loves me and trusts me to help her with her special day. And I’m really thankful she has found someone to love her and make her happy.
I’m thankful for good friends that will gag and then laugh at me after reading about the cat poop. I’m thankful that I can make them laugh, and I hope I bring a little bit of happiness to their days.
I know some people aren’t into all the thankfulness that people express this time of year, but I think those people are a bunch of scrooges. Being thankful doesn’t come naturally to me, and I need this season as a reminder that there is a lot of good in my life. The bad stuff often gets all of the attention. I’m glad that the good stuff is getting it’s share of time this month.
What are you thankful for today?
And don’t say that you’re thankful you didn’t step in cat poop.
