Some years it is hard for me to get in the Christmas spirit. Worries and stress weigh me down and the last thing I want to do is decorate and celebrate and do all of the Christmas type stuff.
There are certain scents I like that help me get in the mood of the season. Sort of like a holiday aroma therapy.
There is something about the way the air smells this time of year. The cool air seems to bring out the pine, and the air smells fresh and clean. This reminds me of Christmas.
Since I was a little girl baking has been a big part of the holiday season. Starting with Thanksgiving, the smell of pies, cookies, and cakes fill the air. Cinnamon, spice, baked sugar… These smells remind me of Christmas.
Thankfully, all of these scents are easily accessible in the scent aisle of my local Walmart, Target, and grocery stores. Candles, wax melts, plugins, and air fresheners for all the rooms in your home are available in of the scents of the season to get you in the mood for the holidays. A living room with an artificial tree can smell like pine. Kitchens can smell like fresh-baked pies and cookies without ever turning on the oven.
Those are the smells I enjoy. Those are the smells that put me in the spirit so that I can enjoy the holiday.
What are your favorite scents of the season?
