In my pie research I found this Cinnamon Buttermilk pie recipe on the Imperial site. It looked so simple that I knew it had to be delicious. I wasn’t wrong. Of all the pies I made, this is the one that was eaten the fastest. I’m pretty sure that David will be asking me to make this one a LOT.
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg yolk
1 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 unbaked Pie Crust
1. Roll out your pie crust and put it in a pie plate. Trim and crimp the edges.
2. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugars. Add the the flour and salt and mix well. Add the eggs, one a time, mixing between each addition. Add the buttermilk and vanilla and beat well. This mixture will be thicker than your normal pie.
3. Pour the filling into the pie crust. Sprinkle the cinnamon on the top. Use a toothpick to swirl it around.
4. Bake in an oven preheated to 400 for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 325 and bake an additional 30 – 45 minutes. Cool completely before serving.
This pie was SO easy to make for it to be as delicious as it was. You could make this with all the ingredients you have in your house. You can even “make” buttermilk with regular milk and vinegar if you don’t have any. Your family will LOVE this pie!
