Thursday afternoon I will be flying to Dallas for Blissdom. (Yay!!!!) Yes, it is in Texas this year, but Texas is big y’all. It would take me about four hours to drive there. I can fly in an hour on a direct flight from our local airport, which is small and almost hassle free. Throw in the fact that it would cost me in gas for my car what it is costing me to fly, and it is pretty much a no brainer. Lucky for me, I’m not afraid to fly. Although, there are some things I hate about flying.
I used to fly ALL the time for work, and I was witness to a lot of crazy, but one of the craziest things I ever saw were these two people fighting about reclining the seat, which if you watched the video, you know I hate. I was across the aisle and a row back from these people, and my aisle seat gave me the perfect viewing opportunity.
The woman was sitting in front, and she reclined her seat all the way back. If you’ve ever flown, you know that pretty much puts the seat right in your face. The man behind her leaned forward and politely asked, “Could you please move your seat up a little?” She very nastily told him that she would not.
I guess that “please” was the end of his politeness. He was a pretty wiry guy with these long legs (and must have been a yogi). He leaned back, brought his knees up, and pushed with his feet on her seat as hard as he could. At this point it was a battle of wills. How long could he hold that position, how long could she stand it, and who would give in first and call the flight attendant?
I would like to round that story out for you, but honestly I don’t remember what happened next. I do remember that I was pretty surprised by his audacity, but at the same time a little impressed that he would push his point in that manner (pun totally intended). I can get pretty crazy, mean, but I’m not sure I would ever go to such lengths to prove a point. Plus I don’t want to be escorted off the plane by a federal marshal (even though that didn’t happen in this case).
Wish me luck that I don’t run into any of my flying pet peeves this weekend. What do you hate about flying?
I’m linking up with Mama Kat’s Vlogging Workshop.
