Managing my time is always a challenge for me. Between work and the keeping up with the kids’ schedules I do not have a lot of “free” time. I’m always looking for ways to save time (and money!).
Normally I run errands on my lunch hour. I rush from work to the store and then back to work again. I’ve always wished there was a way I could order groceries or household items and have them shipped right to my house, but we live in a small town and no one has ever offered that service. Until now.
Walgreens has a new shopping app that makes it super easy to order items that I need for the house, and they are delivered right to my front door. I can use the app on my iPad or iPhone (which is ALWAYS with me). The app is super easy to navigate, and even stores my balance rewards card information (I always forget to take it to the store). If you don’t have a Balance Rewards card you can apply for one right within the app and it saves all of your info for you.
The shopping feature on the app is very easy to navigate. The menu is broken down into several categories, and then those are further broken down so you can look for specifically what you need. You can also perform a search by type of item and brand. I like that because I can be pretty brand loyal. You can also click on each item and read a description to be sure you are getting what you need.
Another thing I really like about the app is that the sales ad is right there. I never remember to get a newspaper, and when I do it either doesn’t have the ad I want or they get thrown away or torn up all over the house (thanks a lot kids). With the app, all I have to do is type in my zip code and the ad specific to my area pulls right up. Easy peasy.
I know what you’re thinking, but Walgreens is a pharmacy, right? Of course. The app has that covered too. You can track all of your prescriptions within the app, request a refill, and even schedule medication reminders so that you never forget to take your prescriptions. Sweet! I’m always trying to remember if I took one of my medications so this makes it super easy for me to remember.
The last super cool feature I want to tell you about is the photo section. You can print photos and create cards with photos straight from your iPad (works on smart phones as well) or from Facebook. There is also an option called “Print Worthy” where you can select photos from Facebook, and the comment stream is printed with the photo. I can see how that would be very cool.
This app is a convenient option for me because of the time it saves. I know it may not seem like much, but every hour I can save during the day is a bonus to me. So my working mom wisdom for the day, download the app and check it out. It may save you some time as well. Plus, if I can spend less time doing this:
Then I can do more time doing this:

That’s awesome. I don’t go to Walgreens much because I really need one stop shopping. To be able to do it from an app, though, would be great.
When I lived up north, Stop & Shop had a service called Peapod and they would deliver groceries. It was FABULOUS! Down here, I have to settle for ordering on line, driving up and having them put them in my trunk. Better than having to do the shop, but not as good as actual delivery!
I don’t even get a lunch hour on which to run errands. My lunch is only 25 minutes.
A small service fee would totally be worth it. Not going to the grocery store could save me hours in a month.
Looks like my Walgreens wont deliver perishables. And the rest says 2-5 days for delivery. Love where it’s heading though! Peapod used to deliver here several years ago. It was so amazing! I was heart broken when they stopped. The small surcharge was a lot smaller than my impulse buying of junk!
I don’t think mine has perishables, but if it keeps me out of Target… where I spent over $100 today on “toothpaste.”
I love all the features of the Walgreens app. It seems like they are really try to help a busy mom:)
