Reclaming the P

One of the first things I did after getting married was change my name on my driver’s license.

Do you want your maiden or middle name to be included on your license?

“Middle.”

I couldn’t wait to ditch my maiden name. If you’ve been reading for awhile you will remember that my dad and I had a rocky relationship, and after the wedding, I was ready to forget that I had ever had a maiden name.

The healing bandage of time and forgiving myself has changed all of that. Today, I’m reclaiming my maiden name, Peveto. I’m ready to embrace it wholly as part of who I am and move forward.

blogging, blogger, my story, all about me, memories, grief

That’s what the new website is about. This is a place for me to share my stories and follow my dreams, not just be a mom. The content will be similar to the old blog, but the person sitting behind the computer typing out the posts has changed. I’m better, stronger, and ready to embrace the future.

I hope that all of you that have stuck with me for so long will continue to be around, and that I didn’t lose any of you. Just to be safe, you can subscribe to my new feed here and follow my new Facebook page here. The rest of my “stuff” (Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) should still be the same.

  1. Lose? Girl, please.

  2. Congratulations on your growth and forward movement.

  3. Really, I really cannot call you Jenni P.???? Okay, I’m just ribbin’ you. I will still call you Jennifer (but in my head…) ;-P

LOVE your new look and that you are taking back the P. It’s part of who you are and it always will be. And you are all wonderful no matter what letter it is. xoxo

  4. Love the new look, and I love that you’re embracing who you’ve become. Rock on, girlfriend!

  5. Mama Melch says:

A lovely new look for a brand new attitude! I’m definitely sticking around.

  6. Again, I love the new layout. And ain’t nobody going no damn where, change your name all you want.

  7. Good on you, Jennifer. I couldn’t wait to ditch my maiden name, either, but not because of my relationship with my dad. The name was just point-blank hideous! Hagmeyer. Can you imagine the taunting I suffered for that one? To add insult to injury, Hagmeyer is the German term for “turnip farmer.” Gaaaa…

    • Can you imagine how many times I’ve had to spell Peveto in my life, or if someone saw how it was spelled how many times I had to tell them how to pronounce it.

  8. Jennifer,

I love the new layout and the rebirth of this blog and your attitude! Can’t wait to read more of the great writing you do here as you did on your old site.

    Good for you, girl!
    Kiran

  9. I can’t even explain how much I love your new look and the meaning behind it! Do you realize I have now followed you through 2 blog changes so I guess it isn’t that easy to shake me.

I was undecided on what to do with my maiden name and was shocked when they made me make a decision when we applied for our marriage license!

  10. LOVE the new look. How exciting!! XOXO
