I am a born pessimist. It has always been hard for me to look at the bright side. I have to make an effort to notice the good things in my life. That is why I like Thanksgiving. It reminds me to be thankful for the many blessings in my life.
Like him,
and her,
and him,
and them,
and kisses,
and plenty of food to eat,
and a cast iron skillet seasoned by my grandmother to cook it it in,
and friendship,
and blue skies,
and rainy ones too,
and baby toes,
and little boy ears,
and plenty of clothes for all us to wear,
and new shoes,
and handbags too,
and the perfect cup of coffee,
and a Diet Coke with just the right amount of ice or a cold glass of tea with just the right amount of sweet,
and a husband that can cook,
and flowers in the spring,
and granny gowns,
and new car notes,
and a job that helps to pay for it all,
and, most of all, for love.
Because without that, none of the rest of it matters.
Happy Thanksgiving!
